People always seem to overlook this aspect but there's about as much as there is in WW to find. There are more secrets, collectables, puzzles and mini dungeons to find in the overworld. Stallord for example, is just a blast.īetter overworld is false too, it's just bigger but it's not more interesting. Even if the bosses are easy (OoT's bosses are easy too) they are a lot more fun to fight. Better themes, better set pieces, better puzzles, more inventive bosses. Wind Waker's combat is closer to OoT's than TP so it's weird to give it credit for trying when TP does more. They add variety to the combat along with the more battle orientated items as well as horse combat. You're forgetting about the hidden skills, Link is a lot more capable than he was in OoT.
WW tried things with combat but it was still easy as piss but more interactive. The combat is on par with OOT ie super basic. The game's more linear story makes it easy to just keep going from point A to B to C, and given the large emphasis on horse back riding it makes sense to have open fields, but if you take the time to do some of the side quests and poke around the field, there's a good amount of content to be found. There's an in-game fortune teller who you can pay for tips on finding the heart pieces, but the game still leaves it for you to figure out the how on your own. There are secret grottoes everywhere, some of which are almost mini dungeons unto themselves. However, if you are taking the time to track down every heart piece, bug, and ghost, the world is actually surprisingly dense. I say this because, as others have said, there's a common complaint about the world being "big but empty". This is a little easier in the Wii U version with the Poe Lantern, but still very doable in the base version. When I replayed Twilight Princess most recently, I went in with the goal of trying for 100% completion without using a guide. Tip for OP, and general observation about the game.
